Please Pray

Sunday, September 14, 2008

Been busy for...

Since I left the Doulos, God has been putting in my heart to bring a group of my church youth for missions. And His plan has finally come to place. On 27th Sept till 4th Oct I'll be leading a group of my church youth to Manila, Philippines for a short term mission trip. We'll be mainly doing street kids ministry. Please pray for me as I lead the team. This is the first time I'm leading a team for mission trip and I'm planning everything from scratch. It has been a challenge and the hill is still going up. Thank God that I've a very cooperative and fun team. If you would like to support us financially, please let me know. You too can support us in prayers. Our updates can be viewed at

13 days to go. Please pray with and for us. Thanks

cheers

An angel & a devil on my shoulders

Have you ever experience an inner struggle? Let me tell you a valuable lesson I learned yesterday.

After practice in church, I was on my way back when I received a call from my mom asking me to find my own dinner as the rest of my family were going out. So on the way I stopped by at a pasar malam (night market) for those muslims that want to buy food for buka puasa (breaking fast). I parked my car and walked towards the market, on my way I noticed this old thin man collecting recyclable items at a dumpster. I went on to buy my dinner and one of it was ayam panggang (roast chicken) which was a piece of chicken meat between 2 bamboo stick roasted over charcoal. I've not eaten it for a very long time and so I bought a piece. On my way back I saw that same old man and the battle started..cheng cheng cheng...

It was like what you watch in a cartoon. An angel and a devil character would pop up on both sides of your shoulder. The angel character would say the good things while the devil character would tempt you the bad things. In my heart, there was a voice asking me to give that piece of chicken to the old man but there was another voice saying not to give as I've not eaten that in years. This battle went on till I reached the car. I decided to give but then I was scared (which I don't know why). But finally I gave that only piece of chicken to him and even though he didn't show much expression that he was grateful but the battle was over. Good-1 Evil-0

Even I didn't eat that chicken but after through that God taught a very valuable lesson. God spoke to me when I was showering (yes the Lord speaks whenever He wants). He gave me the idea of praying for the muslims everyday when they break fast. What are the Christians doing during this Muslim fasting month? If you've a youth group or any Christian group, take this opportunity to pray and break fast at the same time the Muslims are breaking fast. If you want to break fast with them, it would be better. As the Muslims pray, you as a Christian should also pray before breaking fast or before your dinner. May the Lord speaks to them through visions, dreams and you.

If I wouldn't have given that piece of chicken, I don't think the Lord would have taught me this valuable lesson. So whenever you have this angel-devil battle, I would highly recommend following the angel. Thank You Lord!

Cheers

All in 1 (too much to take in)

In the last 2days, it felt like a 1000days..cause so many things..ok, it's just 4 major events but it's HUGE 4 major events..it all started with a very low note..I was so fed-up with one of my colleague..jobs that we were suppose to do together, end up it was me that was doing 99% of the job..I taught him and reminded him countless times..but still haiyah...worse of all, I saw him talking to another new colleague (she) and not doing any work..I had tons of work plus tons of responsibility passed to me and there he was 'kau lui' (tackling girls)..it drove me up the wall till I needed to vent my anger via email to the rest of my colleague..Oh Lord..how do You love these people?Teach me, O Lord

Then from a low note to a high note..after all those venting...my boss called me and passed me my confirmation letter..that was fast as I didn't expect my confirmation till end of this month..but anyway, based on my excellent performance since I started..I was confirmed earlier and an increment in salary..all thanks to God..

Then to a low note..since in the morning I had this funny stomach feeling..felt the urge to vomit and was getting a bit fever..Thank God He sustained me throughout the day and when I reached home, I was flat dead..my body heated up..head felt like ten times its weight and all I want to do is just lie down..went to sleep about 9.30pm..well,I wouldn't call it as sleep cause throughout the night, I was rolling from side to side..woke up about 6 to 7 times, visiting the toilet...it was all liquid coming out,not solids...i wipe my butt till I was tired..sometimes my toilet sessions were long..so it was hard to get back to sleep..I filled in those times by shaving (my facial hair of course) and surfing the internet...at 6.30am I decided not to go to work (HOORAY!!)..so informed my boss..when I woke up, I felt alright..deep down I was quite worried if I was to see the doctor and he couldn't find anything wrong, he wouldn't give me a MC..but in the end he gave me..had some light breakfast, took medicine and slept..it was indeed a nice day to rest and rest

Then to a high note..when I woke up in the afternoon..I saw a sms from an unidentified number..from the text, I could have guessed who the sender was..after confirming the sender..it was a dear friend who likes surprises..

Well the day is almost over..tomorrow is another day..another day to put on my bullet proof vest as I'm into some serious 'shooting' tomorrow at work

cheers

Ok..not that young

As contradicting from my previous entry...I'm not that young anymore...yes I'm starting to realize now

Last Saturday was by friends' wedding and I was involved starting from the morning...I thought Saturdays I could sleep in but not this Saturday..woke up as normal at 6.30am..then went to the grooms house as I was one of his 'Heng Tai' or the groom's party...we left for the bride's house which was an hour away..to enter the house we had to face a few challenges before the door was opened..this was my first time being a heng tai and I was expecting the worse..but looks like KL standards are not as high as Klang standards...it was so easy challenges..in fact too easy..we got in and had lunch..

Then rush back to Klang for practise as I was playing drums for the praise and worship session..the wedding was beautiful..the bride was very beautiful...the groom was very romantic..actually both were very romantic..while the couple were busy entertaining the guests at the reception, me and the sound crew were setting up for the dinner at the hall next to the church..while cleaning up after the wedding...last minute the keyboard didn't want to cooperate and so it was a frantic search for another keyboard..and finally we got one..but last minute, the presenter decided not to present..issshhhh

During dinner, I was so tired..out table was beside the toilet..so we got extra flavors and aroma..but the dinner was nice...after dinner, cleaned up and only reached home at 11pm..I was nearly 15.5hours out...I was more tired compared to a day at work..I remember when I was in my studying years (both high school&uni), I could be so involved in church work or going out the whole day and never feel tired..but looks like now, I've to slow down, have to realize I'm not that young anymore..

It was a tiring day but it was worth every effort and time..May God bless your marriage Mr & Mrs Choong a.k.a Kean Loong & Grace

cheers
